Grade 4-9 Tawatinaw Ski Day on January 29th

Grade 4-9 Tawatinaw Ski Day – Parent Info Letter

On Thursday, January 29th our Grade 4-9 students will be going to Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill.

  • Students can either ski or snowboard.
  • Our buses leave for the hill at 8:45 am and return by the end of our school day.
  •  Students should dress for the weather (in layers) and with proper gloves/mitts, coats and snowpants.
  • Students should bring a water bottle and a bag lunch. There is a concession at the hill. We do not have a menu available at this time but students may bring money to purchase food that is available.
  • School cell phone rules apply on the bus and at the hill. Any phones that are brought are the responsibility of the child to store properly – the school is not responsible for any lost or misplaced items.

FEES:

Lift Ticket & Equipment Rentals: $36.75

(Equipment rental includes skis/snowboard, boots, helmet, poles if needed. The lift ticket also includes an assessment of student skiing ability and a lesson if needed.)

Lift Ticket Only: $23.10

(Students must provide their own equipment including a helmet.)

Transportation Fee: $5.00

(This helps to pay for the cost of bussing to and from the hill and driver costs.)

PAYMENT:

Payments can be made on-line through your Powerschool account or by cash/cheque sent to the school office. Please make cheques payable to Pembina North Community School.

FORMS:

There are TWO different on-line consent forms that must be completed:

  1. School consent form in Powerschool. Completing this form will give permission for your child to go on the trip and will also attach the appropriate fees to your account.
  2. Tawatinaw Ski Hill consent form. This is where you complete the ski hill waivers and where you enter your child’s specific information (ie. ski/board, height, weight, age, ability).

BOTH forms must be completed in order for your child to participate in the ski day.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

Parents volunteers are definitely welcome to come along for the day. There are a few hoops to jump through for those who want to volunteer. First you need to have your School Division Volunteer Registration completed, along with the accompanying Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Record Check. Then there are a couple of forms you need to complete:

  1. Complete the section on your child’s Powerschool form where you indicate that you would like to come along. This must be completed in order to attach the appropriate fees to your account. Lift and rental fees are the same as for the students. There is no bus fee for parents. Parents may ride the bus for free if there is room.
  2. Complete the Tawatinaw Ski Hill Chaperone Form. This is where you complete the ski hill waivers and enter your rental information (ski/board, height, weight, etc).

BOTH forms and your Volunteer Registration must be completed in order for you to come along on the ski day as a parent helper.

Give us a call in the school office if you have any questions about the day.
