First Nations Education Day – Nov 15

Special Visit from Elder of Alexander First Nation – Thursday, Nov 15

As part of our commitment to Reconciliation and building our foundational knowledge of First Nations history and culture, we are hosting an Elder along with dancers and singers from the Alexander First Nation.

The grade 9 students will be participating in an opening Smudge led by the Elder followed by class teachings about oral storytelling (K-2), the importance of animals (gr. 3-4), the Medicine Wheel (Gr 5-6) and the Medicine Wheel & Reconciliation (gr. 7-9).  We will wrap up our day as a whole school in the gym to watch the dancers and singers followed by a question and answer time.
