Have you heard of the “100 Acts of Kindness Challenge” where schools are challenged to record 100 acts of kindness in the month of February. Well, since we are over-achievers at Pembina North, and since there are 220 students and staff at Pembina North, we’ve decided to do a similar challenge, but BIGGER!
We want to recognize 220 Acts of Kindness!
Here’s how our challenge will work:
Each class (K-9) will be given 22 paper hearts (10 classes x 22 hearts = 220 hearts).
The hearts will be a different colour for each class (ie. Gr 1 pink, Gr 2 yellow, etc.).
Teachers and classroom staff will be watching for Acts of Kindness.
Teachers/staff will write the Acts of Kindness on the BACK of the classroom hearts. They can write one or more acts of kindness per heart, depending on how each teacher chooses to do it. The only rule is that students can’t see what is written on the heart!
Classes have 22 days to fill up 22 hearts (from Feb 1-Feb 22).
As each heart is filled out and completed, it will be brought to the office and handed over to Mr. C and his Kindness Crew (Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Borst and Ms. Simpson).
The Kindness Crew will hang the hearts on our front bulletin boards…but they will be hanging so that you can’t see what is written on them!
On Wednesday, February 23rd (Anti-Bullying Wear Pink Day) all 220 hearts will be flipped over for a BIG REVEAL of all the Acts of Kindness done in the past 22 days.
On February 23rd, Mr. C and his Kindness Crew will also be providing a special snack to all of our classes as a thank you for the day-to-day kindness that we see all year round at Pembina North.
How Do Students Participate?
Do an Act of Kindness.
Tell your teacher about an Act of Kindness you have seen.
Watch to see how many of your classroom hearts are up on the front bulletin boards.
Wear a PINK Shirt on February 23rd and check out all the Acts of Kindness when they are revealed!
