Parents and Guardians of Pembina North Community School Students,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and secure learning environments, and consistent with recent direction from Alberta Education and Childcare encouraging school authorities to review safety and emergency planning measures, our School Division continues to regularly assess and strengthen building security practices to ensure they align with provincial expectations and best practices. As a result, enhanced exterior door security procedures will be implemented across all schools in Pembina Hills School Division.
Effective Monday February 23, 2026 all exterior school doors at Pembina North Community School will remain locked during the school day including the main front school doors. Exceptions include designated arrival and dismissal times. As well, side doors will be open during student lunch and recess times to allow students access to the building.
During the school day all visitors, including parents and guardians, continue to be required to enter through the main entrance and check in at the office. Signage will be posted at the front school doors outlining the entry process.
School Entry Procedures:
- Visitor access only at the main front entrance located on the east side of the building.
- Ring the doorbell located on the brick wall to the left of the main front doors and wait for staff to assist you.
- All visitors must sign in at the office upon entry.
- Students arriving late must check in at the office before going to class.
We understand that changes to routines can take some adjustment and we appreciate your cooperation and support as we implement this enhanced safety measure. If you have questions about how these procedures will work at our school please contact the school office at 780.954.3790 or pn.main@pembinahills.ca or direct your inquiries to me at robert.weiss@pembinahills.ca.
Sincerely,
Robert Weiss, PNCS Principal
