Further to the information that was published by Pembina Hills, our junior high team has been working together to plan what school will look like for our students in grades 7 to 9, beginning on Monday, November 30th.
Each student has been given a printed starting schedule to place in their workspace (attached here for your reference as well). In order to help your child be as successful as possible while learning from home, please:
1) Know that we are trying to keep the schedule as near to normal as possible. We expect to return to in person learning by January 11. Students are expected to fully participate in all classes to keep up with the curriculum and maintain stamina for our return (this is a very different scenario from March).
2) Help your child set up a workspace and be prepared for each class. The intent is for students to start each morning block as a group and then have independent or small group time. We are mindful of the screen time and have lots of breaks throughout the day and more flexibility in the afternoon.
3) Stay in contact with teachers. If your child needs to be away for any reason, please reach out and let them know. We will be taking attendance and assignments and activities will be collected and marked. All students have access to their Google Classrooms for resources and Meet links.
4) Contact me if you are concerned about your child’s learning at home. Arrangements can be made to have students at school if there are circumstances that require in person support.
5) Keep in mind that the school is open (with the exception of Christmas Break). We can make arrangements if your child needs a new library book or needs anything else from the school.
We recognize this is not an ideal situation and we want to support our students and families during this time. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns at any time.
